Three Answers

1. We have been living for too long with seemingly limitless lines of credit. We have lost the ability to only have what we can afford and we must stop mortgaging up the current & future generations with more & more debt.

2. Of course democracy works. The people and prevailing society decide what they want to see happen on their behalf. If it doesn’t happen the government of the day can be and will be voted out. Democracy works even better when voters gain experience of government’s actions and learn not to expect something that can not be reasonably delivered.

3. The voting public have got used to limitless debt and governments who have attempted to stay in power by spending beyond their tax take means.We have to live within our means!
